“We’re thinking of an ensemble, but it’s an ensemble made of us.” That’s how James Shipp describes the conception behind Multitudes, the latest collaboration by the duo of Shipp and longtime musical partner Nadje Noordhuis. The album contains a many-layered mix of acoustic instruments and programmed synthesizers. Imagine Depeche Mode recording for ECM.
The result is a stunning collection of ten melodically beautiful, harmonically adventurous, and rhythmically compelling pieces. It’s ethereal and soaring music that remains firmly grounded in the hands and lungs and hearts of two masterful musicians who’ve spent more than a decade making music together.

Nadje Noordhuis “GULLFOSS”
Featuring Noordhuis' favorite players, brought together in this configuration for the first time: Maeve Gilchrist (harp), Jesse Lewis (guitar), Ike Sturm (bass), and James Shipp (synthesizers and percussion). They came together in Switzerland over three nights of live performance to record an album for Newvelle Records at the request of Swiss club owner Stephan Diethelm. Gullfoss, the resulting recording, was originally released on vinyl by Newvelle and is now seeing its digital debut on Little Mystery Records. The album represents a sonic departure for Noordhuis, at least on a recording.

The Music of Nadje Noordhuis: Educational Activities for Water Crossing, Le Hameau Omi, and Mayfair was designed for the Australian HSC Music Course: Music of the last 25 years (Australian focus).
This digital education resource has been prepared for students studying the NSW Higher School Certificate unit Music of the Last 25 Years (Australian Focus). It is comprised of music analysis worksheets and practical composition exercises for three works by composer/trumpeter Nadje Noordhuis. The worksheets provided develop students' critical listening skills through theory questions that discuss tone colour, timbre, structure, rhythmic patterns, and the blending of music from different cultures. The series of composition tasks is designed to put into practice a variety of techniques utilized by Noordhuis.
It is currently released exclusively through the Australian Music Centre.
